Intimate Wedding-Day Details in St. Malo

Writer: McKenna VillersMcKenna Villers

Jamie and Sam were a joy to work with from the start and knew just what they wanted when they reached our for their wedding details. A custom watercolor map was the source of all our design direction and it perfectly highlighted the area for guests and informed them where the events of the weekend would take place. With less then 50 guests it was an intimate affair within the old private St. Malo community that was modeled after a French fishing village. The houses there are available to purchase by invitation only and many are more often then not passed to the next generation. It was the perfect location for this special couple with the groom having spent his summers growing up there.

Neutral colors and textures played against the old-style backdrop of the homes and the community's crest (the small-tailed white creature) was worked into several of their pieces. Cocktail hour overlooked the ocean and dinner was served in a stunning private courtyard. The unique arrangement of tables allowed for easy conversation and was layered in texture with rattan chairs, flowing floral arrangements and menus that featured the couple's iconic seashell and watercolor-sketch drawings of the evenings courses.

The bar area featured more watercolor-sketched details in the bar menu and custom cocktail napkins, again in the couples' seashell icon. Olive trees and fruit pieces added a statement piece to the beer and liquor displays and the bar was the perfect distance to the dinner location.

Linen pieces were incorporated along with a classic and simple board and easel setup to welcome guests when they arrived. From beginning to start the day was carefully planned, beautifully executed and completely unique to this couple and their story.
